Plant’s Givens Named Preseason All-American

Plant High baseball standout Mychal Givens has been named a Louisville Slugger Preseason High School All-American. Givens, a shortstop/right-handed pitcher who is considered one of the nation’s top high school prospects for the 2009 MLB draft, was a first-team selection as a multi-position player and was the only player from Hillsborough, Pinellas or Pasco counties selected to the team. The baseball season officially begins Monday, when Florida high school teams are permitted to play their first regular-season contest under FHSAA guidelines.
