Phillip Ervin Chooses Samford University

Leroy High School's two-way standout, Phillip Ervin has signed with  Samford University. Samford's head coach Casey Dunn may have picked one of the state's best talents in Ervin. Samford will be looking for Ervin to play a strong dual role as a centerfielder and pitcher. Ervin has the potential to do so. he is fast, athletic and can score runs. He hits for average and has some pull-side pop in his bat. Once on base he becomes a base stealing threat. On the mound he possesses a bulldog presence with a fast, lively arm. His off-speed needs some polish, but he has a chance to become a dominant college arm.
