Entering his first year as the University of Alabama's head coach Mitch Gaspard didn't lose a step in recruiting. Maybe it was because he was Alabama's recruiting coordinator last year or it could be the solid efforts of his new recruiting coordinator Dax Norris, but whatever the cause they have signed well this year. There is a new excitement in Tuscaloosa and it's not just the University of Alabama football team's National Championship. It's cenergy comes from an energetic group of young coaches in Gaspard, Norris and Kyle Bunn. Gaspard and Norris were both
assistants last year and Bunn has taken over the pitching coach duties for the Crimson Tide after leaving Clemson. The Crimson Tide returns a strong class from last year's squad and with a few more signees like the 2010 class and they should make a run at Omaha soon. Most feel recruiting begins at home with winning the in state recruiting war. Time will tell if they have done so, but in our opinion they have recruited Alabama well. Here are there 2010 in state signees:
Cary Baxter (RHP/IF) Oak Mountain HS - Birmingham, Alabama
Reggie Golden (OF) Wetumpka HS - Wetumpka, Alabama
Patrick McGavin (LHP/1B) Spanish Fort HS - Spanish Fort, Alabama
Case Nixon (RHP/C) Hillcrest HS - Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Jay Shaw (RHP) Russell County HS - Phenix City, Alabama
Jeremiah Tullidge (OF) Tuscaloosa Academy - Tuscaloosa, Alabama
