Sean Rutherford, 2011 1B, The Covenant School Virginia

Sean Rutherford is a 2011 6'2-175lb primary first baseman attending The Covenant School in Richmond, VA.  Sean is athletic and showed a 7.03 sixty, a 5.01 forty, and a 4.28 home to first base time.  Sean moves very well around the bag at first base and posted a  73mph arm strength reading across the diamond.  Sean shows college projection arm strength and defensive skills at first base.  A LH hitter, he posted a 80mph exit velocity on the radar tee.  In the box, Sean hit from a narrow stance and showed a line drive swing plane with above ave hs bat speed.  Sean is very good on ball on the inside of the zone.  Sean showed above ave hs  power even though he doesn't always get the most out of his lower half.  More power to come.  On the mound the LHP showed a 78mph fb with ave life, a 65mph cb with very good drop, and a 68mph change up with very good feel.  Sean throws from a over the top arm slot with very nice deception.  Velocity should continue to develop and we would think low 80's are just around the corner.  Young, quick and developing in every aspect of his game.  A must follow.
