Mitchell Downing, 2011 RHP Kellam HS (VA)

Mitchell Downing is a 2011 6'2-170lb primary RHP attending Kellam HS in Virginia Beach, VA.  Mitchell is athletic on the mound and showed 82mph fb velocity with good sink, a 66mph cb with solid hs spin, and a 72mph change up that he shows nice feel for.  In the batters box, Mitchell showed above ave hs hitting form and well above ave hs power.  Hitting form a wide base he shows very good power on balls up and in with good balance in swing.  No load approach , we feel there is more power to come with better use of lower half.  Very interesting on the mound and as a hitter, looks to be in the process of developing big strength and should really jump up as a complete player over the next 6 to 12 months.  Named to Top Prospects List for this event.  Must be followed by recruiters.
